A Tale of Childhood
By Grant Goodman
This is a tale about me when I was two, but I can't remember it. My maternal great grandfather was a gentlemen and was always clothed impeccably. Even in the weekends he would wear a three piece suit. In the 1950's it was common for men to wear a hat. In fact a man going out without a hat was considered very poor form. One Sunday morning my great grandfather came over for a roast dinner and left his hat on a low stool outside of the kitchen. We had a cat and the cats milk was under the stool. In the course of the morning I came in and poured the cats milk from the saucer into my great grandfathers hat. When it was time for him to go he doffed his hat and got covered in sour cats milk. Apparently he was not amused as his hat was ruined and I was out of his good books for a couple of days. This story still circulates in the family even though my great grandfather passed away in the early 1960's at the age of 92. |

Well, at least he froze you out for only a couple of days, at least he didn't hold a grudge.
:))))) LOL! That is so funny. I'm visualizing it in my head as I write...
Great intel, Grant. Great grandfather should have known, that a hat is hung on a peg and not placed on a stool. I'll bet that he hung it somewhere the nexr time that he visited. Lesson learned! Thank for sharing. Best wishes. Frederick
