Dan Carlin's Hard Core History
By Grant Goodman
It is history week and to celebrate I want to do a plug for my favorite podcast: Dan Carlin's Hardcore History. Don't let the podcast title put you off. Dan Carlin is passionate about history and he conveys his excitement and deep knowledge on this top rated podcast. Dan's view on history will open your eyes and allow you to see a different view on what the history text books tell us. Dan is an amateur historian. He took history at college but he is not a Professor of History. I can highly recommend this podcast to all you history buffs out there. Be prepared to be surprised and delighted. Some of the recent podcasts are as follows: A Fly on James Burkes Wall In this episode, Dan discusses history with famed television host, author and science historian James Burke, the man the Washington Post called "one of the most intriguing minds in the Western world". Apache Tears A traumatized people who traumatized their neighbors, the Native American tribe known as Apache were among the last Indians to surrender to the U.S. Government. Dan, of course, has thoughts. This is a long show! History Under the Influence This first "Blitz Edition" of the show looks at the hidden side of history, the impact of drugs and alcohol on past events. Dan has a whole list of historical figures he wants to drug test. This podcast is consistently in the top 10 podcasts on iTunes. |

Sounds interesting. It can be enlightening to get a perspective based on little-known information.
Thanks for sharing this podcast history, Grant. Keep up the good work. Best to you. Frederick
Thank you for pointing out this history site. I just listened to one podcast from the Spy Cast. It was interesting and enlightening. I love history - especially the unusual and obscure.
CONTRIBUTOR'S REPLY
I'm pleased that you enjoyed it. Another good history podcast is History according to Bob which is a bit more academic in style.
