The Joys of an American Breakfast

By Grant Goodman

I love American Breakfasts

One thing I love about visiting the United States is enjoying a hearty American breakfast. An English breakfast is nice, but the American breakfast is awesome!

They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and the Americans have taken this saying to heart. I am currently staying at a Marriott Hotel in Pittsburgh and the food is wonderful.

Yesterday I had a breakfast burrito - a taste of Mexico and this morning it was a breakfast bagel. Luckily I have a few more days here so I will have the opportunity to try some of the other delicious breakfast items.

I would have to say that a "proper" English Breakfast is still the best in my opinion - Sausage, Bacon, Egg, Black Pudding, Fried Bread and Baked Beans, maybe plus Tomatoes and even Chips.

I do like American Breakfasts, but still after having lived in the USA for 15 years find the habit of putting everything on one plate (egg, bacon, sausage, pancakes and fruit) a bit odd. People even do it at buffets which I find even stranger.

I do like pancakes and waffles, bagels, and crispy bacon, but American breakfast sausage falls short for me compared with a good British Banger.

Thx for the comment. The English cooked breakfast is growing on me, I have to say.

I have to admit that I like to eat the food of the place that I am staying in, so if in the USA I eat American food, in Latin America I eat Latin food, in the Caribbean I love to eat fresh fruit, conch and the other delicacies etc.
I think this is one of the fun parts of traveling overseas, or even to different parts of the USA, enjoying the local foods.
