The Power of Photography

I have just been having a video chat session with my daughter in New Zealand, and she was showing me some photographs of my parents, siblings, grandparents and friends taken from the late 1940's through to about 1960. It really brought back memories seeing my grandparents and great granfather again. They have all been dead for over thirty years but seeing the photos made me recall all the great times I had with my family. I feel like I have replenished my memory banks and I'm sure I will recall even more memories during the day after having this photographic memory catalyst. |

I've found myself reminiscing a bit more in recent years. At first I thought it was just age, but it's more than that. It's that as time has passed I've been removed from others due to distance/moves, death, and the like. Having photographs can be a very pleasant way of remembering others, and pleasant times.
I think old photographs are all the more precious because back in the day it wasn't as easy to point and click (and click and click). You are lucky to have those photos, and even luckier to have family who show them to you over the web.
